Oral Hygiene Masks – What Is An Oral Hygiene Mask?

A medical face mask, commonly referred to as a medical face mask or an oral hygiene mask, is designed specifically for use by doctors during dental procedures. It’s designed to prevent infection in dentists and patients by capturing microorganisms shed from the mouth and nose of the wearer and by catching bacterial droplets and liquid droppings that are collected in the mouth and nose of the wearer.

Face Mask

Mouthwashes are not designed for this type of application and can cause problems with the teeth. While a dental mouthwash can protect the teeth against infection it is a weak deterrent against tooth decay, gum disease and cavities. The mouthwash contains antibacterial agents that do little to fight bacteria and viruses that cause infections, and the mouthwash may contain substances that can cause allergic reactions.

Dental scrubs, which are not meant to be worn for extended periods, are another area of concern when it comes to wearing dental masks. They are made from chemicals that can be harmful to the teeth and gums and they can even cause rashes on the face. If you do not clean your mouth before wearing a mask, you could develop a mouth infection from using an inappropriate mouthwash. Using an improper mouthwash can lead to tooth loss and other complications. Also, if your dentist uses an improper mouthwash there’s a good chance the mouthwash will leave a coating on your teeth, causing further irritation to your teeth.

If you are planning to wear a dental mask to protect your teeth and gums, you should wear loose fitting clothing while wearing the mask. This allows your mouth to breath and keep germs and bacteria from entering your mouth, and also keeps your skin from drying out while wearing the mask. Wear clothing made of natural fibers, so that you can keep your mouth from drying out. If your doctor recommends a tight fitting synthetic, or latex face mask then make sure you know how to properly care for it so it doesn’t irritate your skin.

When choosing a mouthwash, it’s important to look at the labels. Some mouthwashes will have active ingredients that can irritate the sensitive gums and teeth of people who have allergies. In addition to being irritating, mouthwashes containing alcohol can dry out the lips and tongue and even cause burning in some people. If the alcohol content is too high, mouthwash can actually irritate the membranes in the eyes. {if the mouthwash contains antibacterial agents. that may be harmful to the eyes.

There is no one method of wearing an oral hygiene mask. Depending on what needs to be protected and what your dentist recommends, you can wear the face mask either while sleeping brushing your teeth, while sitting in your chair, in the car, or while playing sports.
