A surgical face mask, also called a disposable mask, is meant to be worn by medical professionals during different medical procedures. It’s designed to prevent infection in patients and reducing infections in treating staff and patients by capturing and depositing bacteria from the patient’s mouth and nasal areas. Many physicians are aware that this type of mask can sometimes pose a problem for certain people who are sensitive to anesthesia.
Disposable masks have been used for many years for the treatment of respiratory infections by physicians. The face mask has also been used in many surgical procedures and even on an airplane. The problem with disposable masks is that when they become too dirty or stained they tend to fall off after a while and are no longer able to effectively remove the bacteria from the patient’s skin. This means that bacteria that were previously kept under control in one area of the patient’s body can now become spread to another area.
There are a few methods that can be used to help prevent this problem from occurring, but disposable masks should always be cleaned and disinfected before every use. If you plan on using a disposable mask for any kind of surgery, then make sure to clean it prior to each use. This way all of the germs and bacteria that were present in the hospital or surgical facility’s room before you arrived will be gone and won’t be able to spread back to other patients. It’s also best to sterilize the face mask after each use.
Another concern with these types of masks is that it’s not good practice to allow the nose to breathe while wearing a surgical equipment. If the surgeon or anesthesiologist wants to do this, it’s always best to leave the nose closed at all times. If you do decide to use the nose during surgery, be sure that you close it up completely. You may want to leave the top portion open but don’t close the rest of the nose completely. This will allow for the patient’s nasal passage to breath.
These disposable face masks also have another problem of using them on airplanes. During a flight it is very hard for medical personnel to reach to the nose without breathing in or having their hands to touch the face of the mask. Make sure that the mask is placed over the nose and mouth in the same manner that it would be placed on a patient in the hospital.
In general, disposable face masks are a relatively inexpensive and easy way to deal with the problems of infection that can be caused by their use. If you find them being used improperly then you should inform your physician or hospital personnel about this problem so that they can advise you on the proper use of the mask. Don’t hesitate to tell them to check to ensure that they are correctly using the device.
