Selecting the Right Face Mask for Your Needs
A surgical face mask, sometimes called a medicated facial mask, is designed to be worn by medical personnel during healthcare procedures. Surgical masks are meant to prevent infection in patients and preserving personnel by capturing airborne bacteria and droplets on the skin of the wearer, and shed in the air. This prevents the spread of harmful microorganisms and organisms that could otherwise be dangerous to the personnel.
While most surgical masks may be white in color due to use of pure water to clean the cloth, there are other types available for purchase and which incorporate technology which allows them to filter small particles of dust, dirt and other airborne pathogens. The droplets are collected and taken to the doctor or other healthcare personnel for analysis. If the virus or bacteria is considered incurable after testing, then it is discontinued from treatment and the body is left to handle future infections naturally. This can be very risky if the incorrect treatments are administered as the body may not be immune to them.
As an example, the small particles of dust and other airborne pathogens can enter the bloodstream of an infected individual. The tiny droplets are caught by the mucous membranes of the respiratory system which transport the contaminants out of the lungs into the air. If the correct fluid vacuuming technology is used when the cloth face masks are worn, then this will stop any build up of the materials and the respiratory systems can then process the contaminants and expel them naturally without any dangerous side effects. A large amount of bacteria is believed to have originated from the patient’s home and was later transmitted to others through the shared use of personal items such as toothbrushes, razors, towels and other such surfaces.
Small particles of dust, bacteria and viruses can enter into the nasal cavities via these surfaces and remain there for extended periods of time. Once these particles become lodged in the cavities, they can block drainage and cause bacterial growth and infection. When a surgical mask is used, it is important to clean and then disinfect the surgical masks before and after each use. This will remove any particles that were not vacuumed properly during each individual treatment.
Using a disposable, or disposable surgical mask may be the best option for individuals prone to allergies. An individual who suffers from allergies will require disposable face masks when they visit the emergency room. If an individual is exposed to small particles, even after wearing a surgical mask that is manufactured with higher quality materials, then the particles could end up inside their lungs and cause health issues later down the road. If a hospital has an autoclave machine, the process of sterilizing the devices will also kill any bacteria or viruses that are present, thereby eliminating the need for a disposable face mask.
Disposable face masks are available in many different sizes, shapes, and colors. They can also be made from a variety of different materials. They are made from soft vinyl or foam, as well as completely synthetic polyurethane or neoprene. Soft vinyl or foam disposable medical or hospital face masks are the most popular due to their ease of use. These types of masks offer a very tight fit, and patients often notice little to no facial wrinkling even after long periods of wear. They can also come in a wider variety of sizes and shapes than their neoprene counterparts, making them more comfortable for most patients to wear.
