Face masks are useful for several purposes. The most obvious use is to protect your skin from irritants, but they are also used by some to enhance their appearance. Some masks can actually help to alleviate symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu and other respiratory problems. There are several different kinds of face masks, ranging from those that cover the nose and mouth, to full body covers. There are also facial masques which, instead of simply moisturizing your skin, actually exfoliate and cleanse it.
A cloth face mask is basically a large mask designed with thick washable textiles, typically cotton, worn across the nose and mouth. Although these are very comfortable, they can’t be used on a daily basis for general facial cleansing, since they are more of a long-term solution to a short-term problem. When physical distancing isn’t possible, and if even more effective facial masks aren’t available, a cloth mask is a great way to freshen up and feel more relaxed. It also allows you to cover and protect your face during allergy attacks or seasonal depression.
One of the most famous facial masks in history is the Covid-19 mask. A Russian invention in 1932, the covid-19 originally had no known effect apart from making people breathe harder. A British doctor, James Braid, discovered the positive effects of the masks and dubbed them “breathables”. These masks became hugely popular during the World War II, when millions of people were forced to wear them to combat diphtheria and flu. After the war, they were finally introduced to the United States, where they became known as respironics and were promptly welcomed into the fashion arsenal.
Many types of these masks have been found to be beneficial, especially for people with allergies and mucus-producing illnesses. One type that has gained a lot of attention is the nose drops that are often included in a face mask kit. The nose drops dilate the nasal passage, allowing people with blocked noses to breathe easier. In addition to the nose drops, special inserts made of silicon-based material called Silnerethane can be added to the masks to soften and even out the skin underneath the nose. This makes the nose area less rigid and increases the comfort level for those with faces that are sore or swollen from cold.
Masks specifically for the eyes are also becoming quite popular among allergy sufferers. Because the eyes are typically covered by sunglasses, they are prime places for bacteria and viruses to spread. A face mask with a narrow band of silicone around the perimeter can keep this spread at bay. There are also specially designed mugs that can be used to protect individuals who drink coffee or tea, or who smoke cigarettes. While these simple methods of protection aren’t effective against the full-blown flu, they can certainly slow the spread of what could be serious viruses.
Even with the best care, the skin around the eyes can become irritated or red. For this reason, people wearing protective masks should always wash their hands well and clean their face with antibacterial soap and water. If there are no symptoms or problems, a cloth face coverings kit can be used throughout the day. However, if there are symptoms of colds or sinus problems, or if the person is exposed to irritants, then an isolation mask or other type of mask should be worn.
